South Mukilteo Park
About the Project
The South Mukilteo Park is one of the most southern parks in the city, drawing users primarily from the Harbour Pointe Village residents surrounding it. This project was originally identified in the 2017 Parks, Recreation, Open Space, and Arts Plan (PROSA PLAN) which was developed with significant community input and is also identified in the 2022-2027 CIP. The addition of a playground at this park will help to activate the site and draw users to its six acres of natural habitat.
The park design is funded by the City Council through ARPA funding. The project was kicked off on May 30, 2023, and an open house was conducted on September 26, 2023, at City Hall and an online public survey was opened where 3 design concepts were presented. The concepts were pods, centralized, and linear. On October 23, 2023, the Council was presented with the results open house and survey results and the clear favorite of the community and Council was the centralized design.
This project includes the addition of playground structures, fitness equipment, park amenities, park signage, dispersion trench and underdrain pipes, evergreen trees, and pedestrian lighting at South Mukilteo Park.
Status
The project has 100% design and specifications and is fully permitted. The project construction is on hold due to funding.
