We’re nearing the end of August, and a couple more busy weeks have passed on the M-46 (Apple Ave) reconstruction project! The contractor wrapped up reconstruction of the Getty St intersection and was able to reopen it to northbound and southbound traffic on Thursday, August 27th. They also continue to work on wrapping things up west of Getty and began working on the replacement of some deep sanitary sewer at the Oak Grove intersection. Detailed information on work that was completed, upcoming work, and traffic control can be found below.

Project Activities

Work Completed:

• HMA Top course paving completed between First St and Getty St
• Storm Sewer complete between Getty & Oak Grove
• Sand and aggregate base placed on M-46 (Apple Ave) between Getty & Madison St
• Grass Restoration completed between Pine St and Wood St.
• Contractor began construction on new Sanitary Sewer at the Oak Grove intersection

Upcoming Work:

• Complete adjusting manhole and water valve castings First St to Getty St
• Complete grass restoration work Wood St to Getty St
• Place new pavement markings between First St and Getty St
• Continue sanitary sewer work at Oak Grove
• Install storm sewer from Oak Grove heading east towards Creston
• Construct new curb, sidewalks and driveways from Getty heading east towards Oak Grove

Construction schedules can often change, but we will do our best to provide up-to-date information in each update.

Access to Properties
Access to properties will be maintained unless active construction is occurring in front of your driveway. If you have any questions or concerns about where to park or how to access your residence or business, please contact the on-site inspector (Brian Folkema with MDOT) at 616-278-5818. Services to Properties
Trash – Please place your trash containers at the curb as you typically would for pick up. The contractor will label your container with your address and move them to the nearest open cross street for pick up. After pick-up is complete the contractor will then move your container back to the curb in front of your property.

Mail – Your USPS mail service will not be interrupted, so there is no need to worry about not receiving any mailings.

Delivery Services - You will always be able to receive deliveries or packages to your property during the project. If there are extenuating circumstances surrounding a delivery, please get in touch with me, and we will help facilitate those needs.

Emergency Services – Access to your property will be maintained during construction for all emergency services. If you have additional needs during this time, please share those needs or any concerns with me. Please let me know if you experience any issues so I can follow up.

Traffic Control

M-46 (Apple Ave) continues to be closed to through traffic between First St and Creston St. Getty St, Terrace St, Pine St, Wood St, and Creston St are all open to through traffic while M-46 (Apple Ave) is closed. The current detour for eastbound and westbound M-46 is to use Laketon Ave, and it is shown on the map below.

Access to homes and business will be from side streets/alleys or if access is not possible by that method, then access will be maintained for you on M-46 (Apple Ave).

Please continue to be cautious and aware of detour routes. Accidents can and do happen, and our goal is to have zero issues throughout the project. This will take everyone's diligence, so please be sure to use caution and be very observant when driving through the project area. If you notice any detour issues, please share them with me so our team can review and address them if necessary.
