A road construction crew pours a new concrete curb along a residential street. A concrete mixer truck and curb machine are parked on the unpaved roadway, while workers and utility trucks are visible farther down the street. New sidewalks, homes, and City of Muskegon trash carts line the right side under a bright, partly cloudy sky.

8/5/26 Traffic Notice Update

Apple Ave Construction Traffic Notice
Beginning at 9:00 am on Monday 8/10/26 Apple Ave will be closed to through traffic from Getty St to just west of Creston St.

  • Access to homes & businesses will be best done from side streets that run parallel to Apple Ave.
  • Traffic will be maintained for local use on Apple Ave for those homes/businesses that do not have direct access from side streets.

The detour route for westbound Apple Ave traffic will be to use southbound US-31 to westbound Laketon Ave, then northbound on US-31 BR (Seaway Dr) to W. Muskegon Ave. Eastbound M-46 traffic should take Webster Ave to US-31 BR (Seaway Dr), then eastbound on Laketon Ave to Northbound US-31. The map below shows the proposed detour routes.

Getty Intersection Construction Traffic Notice

  • Beginning at 9:00 am on Monday 8/10/26 the intersection at Getty St and Apple Ave will be fully closed to traffic.
  • The full closure of this intersection will be for approximately 3-weeks to allow the contractor time to complete construction of new underground utilities, curbs, sidewalk, and asphalt pavement prior to reopening it to traffic.

No official detour will be signed for traffic to use during the closure; however, Terrace St, Pine St, Wood St, and Creston St will all be open to traffic which will hopefully help alleviate some of the delays that will be caused by the closure.

Services to Properties

  • Trash – Please place your trash containers at the curb as you typically would for pick up. The contractor will label your container with your address and move them to the nearest open cross street for pick up. After pick-up is complete the contractor will then move your container back to the curb in front of your property.
  • Mail – Your USPS mail service will not be interrupted, so there is no need to worry about not receiving any mailings.
  • Delivery Services - You will always be able to receive deliveries or packages to your property during the project. If there are extenuating circumstances surrounding a delivery, please get in touch with me, and we will help facilitate those needs.
  • Emergency Services – Access to your property will be maintained during construction for all emergency services. If you have additional needs during this time, please share those needs or any concerns with me. Please let me know if you experience any issues so I can follow up.
