9/14/26 Project Update

Apple Avenue Redesign

Hard to believe that we’re already into mid-September and that the M-46 (Apple Ave) project has been going on for 5 months now. As many of you likely are aware, Apple Ave is now fully open to traffic between First St and Getty St!!! The contractor continues to reconstruct utilities and the road between Getty St and Creston St, and will soon begin reconstruction work between Creston St and Home St. Detailed information on work that was completed, upcoming work, and traffic control can be found below.

Work Completed:

  • Adjusted manhole and water valve castings from First St to Getty St
  • Completed grass restoration from Wood St to Getty St
  • Placed new pavement markings between First St and Getty St
  • Opened M-46 (Apple Ave) to traffic between First St & Getty St
  • Completed sanitary sewer work at Oak Grove
  • Completed new concrete curb, sidewalk, and driveways from Getty to Oak Grove

Upcoming Work:

  • Complete new sanitary sewer work between Oak Grove & Creston
  • Install storm sewer from Oak Grove heading east towards Creston
  • Construct new curb, sidewalks and driveways from Oak Grove heading east towards Creston
  • Remove existing pavement in the north half of M-46 (Apple Ave) from Creston St to Home St
  • Install utilities in the north half of M-46 (Apple Ave) from Creston St to Home St

On Wednesday 9/16/26 the north leg of the Apple Ave and Creston St intersection will be closed to traffic. Creston St itself will be closed between Allen Ave and M-46 (Apple Ave) but driveway access will be maintained for homes/businesses. Westbound M-46 (Apple Ave) local traffic should either use Home St to Allen Ave, or turn south on Creston to Ada Ave.

Traffic Control

M-46 (Apple Ave) is closed to through traffic between Getty St and Creston St, the road is open to traffic between Getty St and First St. The current detour for eastbound and westbound M-46 (Apple Ave) is to use Laketon Ave, and it is shown on the map below.

Access to homes and business will be from side streets/alleys or if access is not possible by that method, then access will be maintained for you on M-46 (Apple Ave).

Please continue to be cautious and aware of detour routes. Accidents can and do happen, and our goal is to have zero issues throughout the project. This will take everyone's diligence, so please be sure to use caution and be very observant when driving through the project area. If you notice any detour issues, please share them with me so our team can review and address them if necessary.

Thank you to the residents and businesses directly impacted by the reconstruction work. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and communication during the project! The project team is committed to an efficient, safe, high-quality project.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me at ryan.stone@collierseng.com or 616-827-4284, thanks!
