Background
The Town of Nantucket Affordable Housing Trust (AHT) supported the acquisition of 8 White Street through a bargain sale completed in December 2021, partially utilizing Community Preservation Committee (CPC) funds. As a result of CPC’s participation, 25% of the development will be designated for income-eligible households earning at or below 100% of Area Median Income (AMI), consistent with CPC affordability requirements.
In 2024, the AHT met with neighbors to discuss a potential rezoning approach for the property; however, a rezoning submission was ultimately not filed. The Trust has since returned to the drawing board and continues evaluating the most feasible path forward to deliver year-round housing at this site.
