Solid Waste
Town of Nantucket’s vendor Waste Options Nantucket (WON) under a co-permit with Town performed sampling and testing of Nantucket Natural Compost (co-compost) product for PFAS compounds in compliance with the Approval of Suitability (AOS) permit.

TRC is conducting a needs assessment to support PFAS data management and visualization.

The Town’s ongoing PFAS evaluation and data gathering provide a structured and science-based approach to identify the steps and future actions needed to protect public health and meet Federal (EPA) and State (DEP and MassDPH) regulatory requirements and guidelines.

PFAS activity-based protocols were developed for Town utility work and catch basin cleanouts.
Firefighting Foam Assessment
This study examined the use of foam fire suppression systems at Town facilities and identified measures to reduce the risk of accidental activation or foam releases.
