Background

The Affordable Housing Trust Fund purchased the vacant lots at 135 and 137 Orange Street for $3,862,396.55 in July of 2020. In collaboration with the Trust, the Land Bank purchased 141 Orange in May of 2022 and provided the Trust with an easement on a portion of the lot. The Trust has developed a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the development of these parcels. The potential development could include up to 32 units and 57 bedrooms under current zoning. Under our Workforce Housing bylaw, 25% of the units would be restricted to 80% of Area Median Income or less and all units must be eligible for inclusion on our SHI list. The Affordable Housing Trust used Community Preservation Act (CPA) funds to fund a portion of the purchase.
