Council awards bid for Sculpture Park Project

The Town of Normal Council approved a resolution on Monday, July 21 to accept a bid and award a contract for the Sculpture Park Project to Otto Baum Company. This is the first piece of the Public Art Master plan, adopted in June 2024. The sculpture park will be located in the greenspace at the center of the circle drive at 1110 Douglas Street.

The site already hosts a piece of public art entitled “Circle of Friendship” that honors the people and stories associated with the historic Illinois Soldiers and Sailors Children’s School that once operated on the property. Next steps include working with the Public Art Working Group to begin the selection process for three sculpture pieces.

As a cost-saving measure, Town of Normal Parks & Recreation staff will perform some of the installation work. The Town plans to complete this project this fall.
