Almost Time for Phase 2

We are thrilled to share that we are approaching phase 2 of our asbestos remediation and construction project! In mid-December, staff will work with our construction team and movers to shift the collection and staff spaces from the west side of the building to the east side so that renovation may begin on the 1993 portion of the building. While there isn't asbestos in the 1993 portion, it will be updated to match the newly renovated east side of the building. Library services will continue at our temporary branch at 201 W. College until the entire project is complete.

So far, the following work has been completed as of this writing:

• All asbestos has been removed from the 1970s portion of the building
• New walls, lighting, and flooring have been installed
• Cabinetry has been installed in staff workroom spaces
• A new grid and ceiling tiles have been installed on all 3 floors
• A dedicated server room for the library's network equipment has been created in the basement
• Bathrooms in the basement and on the second floor have been updated with new flooring and fixtures

We anticipate that construction will begin for phase 2 on January 6, 2025. Our projected completion date at this time is June 2025, though both dates are subject to change.
