Potential Development Sites

We are preparing a new local development plan for North Ayrshire, LDP3. Local development plans set out how places will change into the future, including where development should and shouldn’t happen.

Last year, we invited individuals, community bodies, organisations, landowners and developers to submit their ideas for what should be included in LDP3 through a ‘Call for Ideas’. Most of the submissions were ideas relating to the development of a specific site, with most of these proposals for housing development. We are now looking to find out the views of local communities on these potential development sites.

LDPs indicate where development should happen by specifically allocating sites for a defined use or uses. An allocation means the principle of development is supported by the LDP, however, the detailed planning consent is still required. Some of the sites listed below are allocated in the current LDP2 but have been resubmitted to us as the landowner or developer wishes the site to remain in LDP3. No site will automatically roll forward from LDP2 to LDP3.   

This consultation on the potential development sites listed below will be open until Monday 9 November 2026. Please note, sites not listed may emerge later in the process. If they do, we will also consult on them prior to finalising the Proposed Plan.
