Thank you for your patience and understanding during the southbound traffic shift. Please expect delays during active lane closures due to high traffic volumes, and plan extra travel time while following posted signage when driving through the construction zone for your safety.
Phase 3 Work Activities:
- Demolition of the southbound section of the bridge
- Saw cutting of the bridge deck
- Bridge deck removal
- Removal of piles
- Initial dredging activities
Traffic Impacts:
- Southbound U.S. 1/S.R. 5 Earman River Bridge traffic from just south of Anchorage Drive to Northlake Boulevard will be shifted to the new northbound bridge to safely facilitate the construction of the new southbound portion of the bridge.
- Two travel lanes will be open in each direction on the northbound portion of the bridge.
- Pedestrian detours and signage will direct pedestrians to the sidewalk located on the east side of the bridge.
- Pedestrians should not use any portion of the west side of the bridge to cross under any circumstances, even when no workers are present. This area is an active construction zone and is unsafe for pedestrian access.
- Access to all businesses and residences on the west side of U.S. 1/S.R. 5 will remain open.
- This traffic shift will remain in place until Spring 2027.
- The southbound outside lane of U.S. 1/S.R. 5 from Anchorage Drive to Northlake Boulevard will have daily intermittent closures from 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m., to facilitate material deliveries and roadway construction activities safely.
Bicyclist: Southbound and northbound bike lanes end at the intersection of U.S. 1/S.R. 5 and Northlake Boulevard to U.S. 1/S.R. 5 and Anchorage Drive.
Marine Impacts:
The Earman River channel will be closed through Spring 2027 to facilitate construction activities safely. Mariners may take an alternate route to the Intracoastal Waterway north to the Lighthouse Bridge.
