A new traffic shift is now in place—plus updates on pedestrian access and marine impacts.

SR 5/US 1 Earman River Bridge Replacement Project

The SR 5/US 1 Earman River Bridge project has entered Phase 2 as of April 9, 2025, and a new traffic shift is now in place through Spring 2026.

What to Expect

  • Northbound traffic is now shifted onto the existing southbound bridge to allow construction on the new northbound side
  • Two lanes of traffic remain open in each direction
  • Access to all businesses on the east side of SR 5/US 1 will stay open
  • Emergency/First Responder access is being coordinated and maintained
  • Signage is in place to guide drivers and pedestrians safely

Marine Impacts

The Earman River channel will be closed through Spring 2027 to facilitate construction activities safely. Mariners may take an alternate route to the Intracoastal Waterway north to the Lighthouse Bridge.

Pedestrian Safety Notice

Please do not use the northbound bridge to cross—this is an active construction zone and unsafe for foot traffic, even if workers aren’t present.
Pedestrian detours are in place. Use the sidewalk on the southbound side of the bridge to cross safely.
