Oak Ridge, TN Pothole Maintenance
City of Oak Ridge Public Works crews are assessing and repairing potholes throughout the City following the recent winter storm and crews are asking for the public’s help as repairs continue.
Potholes after a cold weather event like the one that recently occurred are very common. When water or moisture gets into cracks in the roadways, it can freeze and expand and when it thaws, it weakens the pavement and creates conditions that make the roads prone to potholes forming.
REPORT A POTHOLE
Residents can also report potholes by calling our Public Works Department at (865) 425-1875.
During the winter months, asphalt plants are closed, so Public Works roads crews will use cold mix asphalt to fill holes and more permanent repairs will be made in the spring when asphalt plants produce hot mix. Drivers can expect temporary delays during pothole repairs.
As a reminder, some roadways are not owned nor maintained by the City of Oak Ridge. There are many private roadways and roadways owned by developers in the City and it’s the owner’s responsibility to make any roadway repairs.
