2017 Project 35: Drake Field/All Children's Playground Bridge

**Project Status: In Progress
Location: All Children's Playground/ Drake Field
Proposed Project Year: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, & 2022
Original Project Budget: $250,000

Project Description

Drake Field is currently undergoing major renovations to enhance the usability of this passive park. Drake Field is located directly adjacent to All Children's Playground, but accessibility between the two parks is severely lacking.

The project includes the installation of a 170-foot pedestrian bridge/causeway to provide an enhanced, handicapped-accessible connection between the two parks and Lake Peachtree.

December 2023 Progress Update:

This project is in progress. Several alternatives have been evaluated for feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and project objectives (such as ADA). Public Works has worked through permitting issues and designed a site plan that shows Drake Field connecting with the All Children’s Playground area with a 75-foot-long pedestrian bridge crossing the creek between the two parks. The manufacturer’s Bridge shop drawings have been completed along with foundation designs. Public Works is working with its other bridge design-build contractor on moving this forward.
