2017 Project 39: Lake Peachtree Spillway Multi-Use Path Bridge
Project/Goal Description:
The current spillway at Lake Peachtree Dam is scheduled to be replaced beginning in September 2017 (with $2 million in funding from the County per the 2015 Peachtree City / Fayette County Franchise Agreement). This project identifies a two-lane multi-use path bridge crossing over the new spillway and associated path relocations. Providing a two-lane bridge over the new spillway will enhance multi-use path access for residents visiting Shakerag, McIntosh Place, Gathering Place, Amphitheater, Community Garden, etc. The multi-use path bridge will enhance public safety by eliminating the very narrow sidewalk crossing over the Kelly Rd bridge that is often shared by carts and pedestrians.
Final Update:
Project was completed in 2018 with a Dedication Ceremony held on 10/18/2018.
SPLOST Actuals Total: $810,135.80
SPLOST Funds Over Budget: $(10,135.80)
The original budget estimates were developed without the benefit of final engineering drawings; therefore, changes had to be made for constructability while restraining overall costs.
