HeatSmart+

For Homeowners

HeatSmart+ is a rebate program funded by a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG). It provides homeowners in the Town of Peterborough and the Town of Harrisville with the opportunity to learn more about home energy efficiency upgrades and to apply for a rebate to fund eligible upgrades and improvements. Please fill out the Connect for Cash form to get started.

The available rebate amount for residents of Peterborough and Harrisville has increased from $3,300 to $5,000 to implement home energy efficiency upgrades. The rebate will fully or partially fund the eligible appliance, parts, or materials needed to complete the upgrade. Labor costs are not eligible for reimbursement.

Eligible home energy efficiency upgrades include:

➢ Weatherization and energy audits
➢ Electric panel and/or wiring upgrades ^
➢ Electric/induction stove
➢ Heat pump air conditioner/heater ^
➢ Heat pump water heater ^
➢ Heat pump clothes dryer

^ These projects require an approved building permit & final inspection by your town's building inspector.

Eligibility

Detached single family residences qualify for this rebate. If you do not own your detached single-family residence, you will need to collaborate with your landlord.

There is no longer an income eligibility component. All detached single-family homeowners are invited to apply!

Project Path

To take advantage of HeatSmart+:

  1. You must own a detached single-family home in Peterborough or Harrisville. Fill out a Connect for Cash form to connect & determine your eligibility.
  2. Identify an eligible project for your home and provide proper documentation to request a rebate amount. There is $5,000 available for each eligible household, so more than one project may be eligible for the rebate.
  3. Any approved amount requested will be available to you for 6 months.
  4. Before this 6-month period ends, email a copy of your W9, a final invoice, and final inspection approval (if necessary) to energy@swrpc.org.

Please note, grant funds are allocated in the order that documentation is received. Residents will receive reimbursement once upgrades are complete, and if needed, have passed final inspection by your town's building inspector.
