About HeatSmart+

HeatSmart+ is a rebate program aimed towards increasing energy efficiency in the Towns of Peterborough and Harrisville NH. The U.S. Department of Energy awarded funding to the Town of Peterborough through an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) that residents of both towns can take advantage of. HeatSmart+ provides residents with cash rebates of up to $5,000 for implementing sustainable home upgrades.

The funding of the EECBG is due in part to the hard work of the Peterborough Renewable Energy Project (PREP), the Harrisville Energy & Electric Aggregation Committee, and the commitment of both towns to energy efficiency and renewable energy.

Besides offering homeowners cash rebates for upgrades, the EECBG also funds the tuition of energy efficiency courses for those looking to enter energy efficiency professions within the Monadnock Region. This series of energy efficiency workforce classes at MAXT Makerspace, anchored in practical applications like weatherization and energy auditing, equips participants with the skills needed to thrive in the Monadnock Region’s vibrant energy-aware culture.

There have been numerous students who were supported by the EECBG through these energy efficiency courses and secured positions in the region's workforce. Read more about these success stories here.
