Aging Advisory Committee
Recent Meetings:
10/16/2024 - AHEOP meeting at ECC:
- Community health passports were discussed, 700 out in the field
- agewisemaine.org: flu and covid vaccine clinics across Maine
- 3 sessions through the Connection, Health, and Equity through Food (CHEF) grant discussed with education component and $50 food gift cards
10/15/24 - Attended asset mapping session at Woodfords Church
10/17/24- Equality Maine community cafe held with vaccine clinic
10/24/24 - Met with CHWs from Presente! Maine to establish a connection and learn more about needs of Latinx older adults
10/27 - Vaccine clinic and info shared at the Watt Samaki Buddhist temple
Status Updates or Announcements:
10/25 - First in the series of 5 EDI trainings (cultural responsiveness is being provided to AAAs across the state has taken place.)
Looking at forming sub-committees to work on the following goal areas- AHEOP Strategic Plan 2024
Tentative meeting scheduled with Bishop Coleman on 11/19 at 1:00 at the Williams Temple Church of God

Clinical Advisory Committee
Recent Meetings:
10/30/24 - The committee met to discuss project ideas for the team to work on together. We decided to send a survey out so we could hear from all members. The survey results were pulled this week (November 18th) and we will be reviewing them at our next meeting in December.

Community Health Worker (CHW) Committee
Recent Meetings:
Status Updates or Announcements:
One topic that was observed in October was the Community Health Passports and how members of the community can use them with the help of CHWs. For community members that do not write or read, there is a higher need for support from CHWs.
Another topic pertains to educating the community about the importance of knowing the names and locations of providers/pharmacies/medication taken. There is a need to educate community members about the importance of taking control over their health and how to navigate insurance information and/or medical costs.
The committee would like to have input from CHWs as to what topics they find most challenging when working with members of the community as well as input on how to support CHWs to achieve their goals without straining themselves to achieve them.

Community & Faith-based Advisory Committee
Recent Meetings:
10/24/24
- Discussed how to use results from the Google Form to create a committee member/resource directory
- Brainstormed ideas for the flow chart/roadmap for providing help and advisory functions to other committees
- Learned about Findhelp from MaineHealth & discussed potential ways for Alignment members to utilize it

The CFBA Committee will work with MEG Committee & MaineHealth Findhelp on creating a member directory and/or roadmap for the Alignment as a whole.
