2026 CDBG Sidewalk and ADA Projects

9/10/26 Update: Coastal Road Repair began work on 9/4/2026 on the corner of Congress Street and Myrtle Street. Coastal Road Repair is currently pulling up as much concrete in front of the City Hall Plaza as possible so they will be able to pour the concrete and have the plaza open as soon as possible.
Parking is impacted where signed but traffic patterns remain normal. Drivers and pedestrians are reminded to use caution and obey the work signs and not enter the construction area, especially during active construction. Typical construction hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Pedestrian access is being maintained using the sidewalk on the south side of Congress Street and City Hall is still accessible through all entrances. The handicap accessible entrance concrete will need to be temporarily closed as the concrete is curing. Notification for this will be sent out with as much lead time as possible. The contractor and city staff are working on alternate solutions so that City Hall remains accessible to every body.

Project Scope
The City of Portland is prioritizing safe, accessible, and equitable infrastructure improvements that benefit everyone in our community. Currently these segments of city streets do not have safe pedestrian infrastructure installed and this project will update them to follow Americans with Disabilities Act Regulations and Guidelines, the City of Portland's Technical Standards, and the City of Portland's Sidewalk Material Policy. This will continue the mission to connect Portland's pedestrian safe network, making it more accessible and safer.

The three project location areas are City Hall, Tate Street, and Cumberland Ave.
