Lyseth Playground Renovation - Construction Schedule Update

Construction Scheduling Underway

This effort has gone through several challenges since the spring, including uncertainty in being able to achieve a contract for sitework improvements as part of the construction. Prices, labor and supply chain limitations have been a major issue for our work.

We have been able to enlist a big amount of help from the Portland Department of Public Works that have made significant cost savings possible. Marc Spiller and Mike Murray have provided time and equipment from their department for removals and excavation of the new play area. We've also worked to get Seaside Landscaping to help us install new perimeter drainage and drain connections to help eliminate site ponding and water issues in the play areas, and will have Maine Recreation and Design coming in to install new swings and play equipment in the space. Negotiations and construction coordiantion have taken some time, as has adjusting schedules to allow for summer camps to have full access to the old play structures.

As of this moment, construction will commence later this month, and play equipment work is anticipated to take place in September. There will likely be a bit of an overlap with the first month of school, but our results will be for a new play path system, swings, structures and climbing equipment features, and major site drainage improvements. Look for construction fencing to go up within a few days of August 12th.

Thanks very much for your patience and interest in this project!
