City of Portland Communications

Improving Communication with Constituents

In an effort to improve communication with constituents, the City of Portland is embarking on a communications project that clarifies how the city serves its community. While Portland remains a destination that attracts tourists, entrepreneurs, and students, this effort is focused on the identity of the city itself (this is not a place-branding or tourism project). The project will support the foundation of future communications efforts and aims to strengthen the city’s relationship with each of its constituents.

By making City communications more cohesive, Portland has the opportunity to regularly engage and create awareness with its residents, businesses, daily commuters, 1,400 City employees, and visitors. The communications should provide each party with a trustworthy platform that clearly articulates the city’s municipal services, strategic priorities, and vision. By creating a comprehensive communications toolkit, the City can create cohesive and clear communication of city services, projects, policies, and initiatives.
