Lyseth Playground Construction - Phase I base bid complete
Base Bid complete - Hoops relocated with new court markings
We are pleased to update folks who might not have visited the playground lately that our sod has established, drainage systems are draining, and the Lyseth Playground has a lovely new pathway system and several brand new pieces of play equipment as of this fall! Just this month the basketball hoops have been relcoated away from the wet areas of the asphalt court space and installed within new the "mini" full court stripes generously provided by the Lyseth PTA.
A huge thank you to Maine Recreation and Design, Seaside Landscaping and Excavation, Aceto Excavation, Downeast Turf Farms, the City of Portland Public Works, COP Water Resources Construction team, COP Parks and Playgrounds staff (many many groups, including Playground Technician team , Athetlic Fields, Parks staff, Forestry and Horticulture Crew) Lyseth Custodial staff and many others for making this a reality. An enormous thank you goes out to all the children, parents and teachers that are associated with this important play space. The construction team has greatly appreciated the hundreds of thank you cards and encouraging words all of these wonderful children shared with them over the duration of the project, their patience and good attitudes made a big difference.
We hope to coordiante tree plantings in the spring with the Lyseth Greening committee and Portland Forestry team. As funding, support, and opportunities allow, we also hope to continue working with the school and community to update the space with some items that were beyond project resources to install. These might include seating, fencing and boulder placement in the future.
Folks with any questions, observations, or joys can share them with Portland Parks at 207-808-5400. Many thanks to our community for their patience during this important construction effort!
