Construction Update #3
Construction on going throughout the Winter.
Thank you for your continued interest in Portland’s Community Pool Project construction formally known as Kiwanis Pool! The concrete for the pools has been poured and the buildings framing is up!
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WINTER:
● Construction will continue throughout the winter. Tents were created so that the concrete for the pool deck could be placed even in cold weather.
● The buildings will continue to be constructed with roof and walls going in.
● Power will be run to the new building allowing the contractor to continue to work on interior work within the building.
● The pool will continue to have a tent as they continue to install tiles and work on the finish within the pool.
● A blue and green set of water slides and platform were installed. The second slide was made possible by fundraising efforts by Portland Parks Conservancy.
● Soil stockpiles will remain covered by plastic for the winter and will be monitored daily.
● Additional soils were stockpiled from the Hadlock Field renovations through a Maine DEP Beneficial Reuse permit.
LIBBYTOWN COMMUNITY GARDEN:
● No work is to happen in the garden space.
