State Street Paving Project
State Street is getting repaved. Work is beginning soon on State Street from Congress Street to York Street. You will see no parking signs where the work is occuring and there will be days when lanes will be closed and shifted.
The majority of the work will take place during the day, however the final paving of the road will be done at night. We understand that this is an inconvenience to you as a resident and will do our best to minimize the impact to you as much as possible. Due to the extremely high traffic on the road, it is safer, more efficient, and will result in a better final product with night paving.
Paving is weather dependent and therefore we do not have an exact date for paving. We are currently scheduled to pave in mid-to-late May 2023. We are expect the paving to take two nights to complete. During the paving operation there will be no parking on the street. There will be lane closures and closures for side streets. The work will take place from 7pm to 6am and the road should be opened back up for the morning commute.
This project is being managed by the Portland Department of Public Works. City staff will monitor progress on this project.
