Join us for an introduction to SMAA's new Portland location. This session will go over the many services SMAA offers to older adults, adults with disabilities, and their caregivers, including an overview of SMAA's Adult Day Programs. Join us to learn about SMAA's many current collaborations & partnerships, and find areas for potential connection with your own work or community.

Kathy Vezina - Maine Council on Aging
Maine is the oldest state and this is NOT a problem (unless we let it be one). We have the opportunity to lead the nation in shifting societal views on aging to be more age-positive. Everyone is aging and, if they are lucky, will experience being an older adult in our society. A shift to a more age-positive culture and state helps not only all of us who are older now, but all those who will eventually become older. Ageism perpetuates the view of aging as an inevitable decline which does not have to be true. Older adults from historically marginalized communities experience ageism compounded by a lifetime of oppression. We invite you to expand your understanding of ageism and age-positivity through this session.
