Deering Avenue Sewer Extension Project
Project Goal:
- Replaced the failing shared sewer lateral serving 283, 287, 291, and 293 Deering Ave.
Project Scope:
- Installed approximately 220 LF of 8” diameter sewer main and two sewer manholes in the location of the existing shared sewer lateral.
- Replaced the 283, 287, 291, and 293 sewer laterals up to the property line.
- Reconstructed the sidewalk and driveway aprons from 113 Fessenden St to 293 Deering Ave.
- Replaced the fire hydrant in front of 293 Deering Ave and replaced the water services for 283, 287, 291, and 293 Deering Ave up to the property line.
- Removed two trees from the right of way and installed four new trees.
Traffic Impacts:
- The City’s contractor, D&C Construction, began working in the Deering Ave right-of-way from Pitt St to Fessenden St on Wednesday April 30, 2025. They demobilized from the site on Tuesday July 22, 2025.
- Pedestrian and traffic impacts included sidewalk closures on one side of the street and alternating one-way traffic during work hours.
- D&C Construction closed Pitt St to local traffic only between Deering Ave and Oakdale St to conduct work in the Pitt St right of way.
