Construction Update #2
Pool Concrete Completed, Building Framing Completed, Continuation of Site construction
Thank you for your continued interest in Portland’s Community Pool Project construction formally known as Kiwanis Pool! The concrete for the pools has been poured and the buildings framing is up!
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS FALL:
● The larger contaminated soil piles covered in plastic will be moved, placed and capped as part of Improvements to Dougherty Field project upon approval from the Planning Board for Improvements to Dougherty Field.
● The buildings will continue to be constructed with roof and walls going in.
● Concrete will be placed for the pool deck area.
● Tenting over the pool area may be needed to help control the temperature while plaster and tiling is done within the pool.
● A test fill of the pool will happen in October to check for any leaks.
LIBBYTOWN COMMUNITY GARDEN:
● A new water spigot will be installed beside the tool shed in the garden space.
● Any disturbance to the soil for the waterline work will be covered with a new strip of sod so not soil will be exposed to the raised garden beds.
