Torrington Avenue Drainage Improvements Project

Project Overview

As part of the City's ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving infrastructure on Peaks Island, the Department of Public Works (DPW) is addressing long-standing stormwater drainage issues at the intersection of Torrington Avenue, Oak Avenue, and Torrington Pt Road. Runoff from this area has historically impacted private property, creating challenges for nearby residents.

Project Scope

To address these challenges, this project will install 270 linear feet of new 12-inch storm drain piping along with a catch basin to safely manage runoff and prevent future issues. These upgrades will enhance the area's drainage system, making it more resilient and effective. Stormwater from the project area will be directed through the new piping and discharged into the existing storm drain outfall system near the intersection of Torrington Avenue and Greenwood Street.

Public Feeback

Public input is central to ensuring this initiative meets community needs and expectations. Construction is scheduled to begin in early May 2025 and wrap up by July 1, 2025. With your feedback and our collective efforts, we aim to minimize impacts on residents during construction.
