Hamilton Avenue Sewer Replacement Project
The Municipality of Princeton’s Sewer Department has identified that the sanitary sewer collection system on the following portions of roads requires replacement:
• Hamilton Avenue (Moore Street to a point 640 feet easterly)
• Chestnut Street (Hamilton Avenue to Spruce Street
• Walnut Lane (Hamilton Avenue to Houghton Road)
• Moore Street (Spruce Street to a point 370 feet northerly)
The project includes the replacement and relocation of the public sanitary sewer main and repairs and / or replacement of private sanitary sewer laterals. In Hamilton Avenue, there are two parallel sewer lines that will be consolidated into one new sewer main. There are also portions of the sewer mains in easements on private property bordering Moore Street and Hamilton Avenue which will be relocated to the roadway right of way.
Princeton’s consultant conducted surveys of the sanitary sewers and laterals on private property in the spring and summer of 2024 to identify the scope of work necessary to relocate the sewers into the roadway right of way. Where work is needed on private property, Princeton will secure Right of Entry Agreements from the affected private property owners. These Agreements will clearly define the work necessary on private property including the restoration work. At this time, we do not anticipate performing additional survey / inspection work on private property.
All sewer work proposed in this project will be completed using open trench construction methods, which does include disturbance of the ground surface.
