Proposed changes to the Sign By-law ready for review
This project has three main workstreams, one of which is to review and update the Town's policies and by-laws. Our approach to tthese reviews is to make sure the by-laws reflect our community's current, reasonable practices, make them easier to interpret, and include some "good by-law practices" where necessary.
The first by-law we tackled is the Sign By-law, which regulates the use of permanent and temporary signs and advertising. The team compared current sign practices to the existing by-law, compared examples of similar by-laws from different municipalities, and identified several areas where the by-law can be improved. A draft version of an updated by-law was presented to Council on May 22nd, where Council who several changes were identified.
