Hercbase Road Reconstruction – Oakwood Road

About

The RM of Springfield is undertaking reconstruction of Oakwood Road in July 2025 using Hercbase, an advanced in-place full depth reclamation product and process. Hercbase blends the existing roadway material with engineered binders to create a high-performance stabilized base layer.

This approach offers significant benefits, including:

  • Improved long-term pavement performance
  • Reduced reliance on importing and hauling materials
  • Shorter construction timelines and lower costs
  • Less environmental impact

Road Closure Notice:
Oakwood Road between Main Street (PR 206) and Elm Drive will be fully closed to all traffic during construction. Local residents and road users are advised to plan alternate routes. Notifications will be issued in advance of the closure. This project supports Springfield’s commitment to investing in sustainable, durable, and cost-effective rural road infrastructure.
