Vision Zero – Bike Network Planning & Engagement Week

Check out the latest opportunities to engage!

Developing a Bike Network Plan in conjunction with the Vision Zero Plan is a great way to ensure that investments in bicycling infrastructure are safe and convenient for residents and visitors of all ages and abilities. During this week the goals for the Bike Network Plan are:

  • Connect with people that are already using a bicycle to move in Roanoke, including but not limited to group rides, a pop-up at Mill Mountain, and talking with people commuting during the week
  • Learn about the destinations that people feel are more important
  • Identify corridors where safe and comfortable bicycling infrastructure will make a big impact
  • Assess existing conditions through walking and bicycling audits
  • Establish a preliminary network vision with community members and stakeholders through mapping activities and discussions

This week we are also continuing to meet with Roanoke residents to discuss broader traffic safety issues that will inform the Vision Zero Safety Action Plan. This includes the third meeting of the Project Advisory Committee for the Safety Action Plan on Wednesday afternoon and sharing information with the Re-envision Williamson Road Task Force to ensure these initiatives are complementary and coordinated.
