In-River Park Project Construction Update
Construction on the first section of the new In-River Park is set to begin the week of July 7.
Construction on the first section of the new In-River Park is set to begin the week of July 7. Work will start at the most upstream location, just beneath the Memorial Avenue Bridge.
While work is being done at this site, the Greenway will stay open, and we don’t expect any disruptions to foot or bike traffic. The Blueway (Roanoke River) will also remain open for paddlers and tubers heading downstream past the construction zone. Just a reminder: due to bridge work for a separate project happening farther downstream, the required take-out point is still at the Wasena pedestrian bridge.
Construction at this site is expected to take about three to four months to complete. After that, work will move to the next in-stream location this fall.
