Marvel Designs of Richmond has been selected to lead landscape architecture and planning efforts for the development of master plans for Washington and McCadden parks. In July, community members joined us for a public meeting to share ideas and help shape the vision for both spaces.
We’re continuing to collect input through online surveys, which will be used to guide the next phase of planning. This feedback will be shared during public meetings in fall 2025, where we’ll take a closer look at design concepts and potential features. Once completed, the master plan will help the City make decisions about McCadden Park improvements as funding becomes available.

In the first round of public engagement this summer, we asked about what amenities and features community members would most like to see in the park. For this round of feedback, we are asking residents to consider options for how those amenities and features should be organized in the park.
McCadden Park Master Plan Feedback
The McCadden Park Master Plan will seek to build better connections and access between recently redeveloped park amenities, provide more shade, and create new amenities prioritized by the community. It will encompass the entirety of Washington Park, including both the upper and lower sections of the park.
