Wasena Skatepark Reconstruction
Welcoming a new era of community driven development in Roanoke, the City's Parks and Recreation Department is turning its attention towards the revitalization of the Wasena Skatepark. The awaited updates come on the heels of the critical bridge replacement project, demonstrating our commitment to enhancing and improving our public spaces for all residents.
A design-build contract has been finalized between the City of Roanoke and Pillar Design Studios for the design and construction of the $1.6 million skatepark. The City has committed $1,070,000 to the project, the City of Salem contributed $200,000, and the Town of Vinton contributed $50,000. Private community donors raised $280,000.
The skatepark will include a pump track, which is funded by those community donors and supplemented with $70,000 from the City of Roanoke.
