Safety Action Plan for Lee County Ready for Review

Plan to be presented to local boards; public feedback requested

Following focused analysis and public input on roadway safety in Sanford, Broadway, and Lee County, the Safe Streets for All Safety Action Plan for Lee County is closer to adoption.

The plan identifies highest-priority corridors, outlines countermeasures, and offers strategies to increase safety that address infrastructure, design, and funding. Carrying it forward will require collaboration and financial investment. However, with the plan in place, the region is better positioned to take advantage of funding opportunities that will help implement the safety measures without burdening local budgets.

The plan is now available for public review here. The public is encouraged to read the plan and submit any feedback to by December 8, 2025, to Sanford/Lee County Long Range Planner David Montgomery at 919-718-4657 x5392 or david.montgomery@sanfordnc.net.

Sanford/Lee County Planning Department will present it to the Lee County Board of Commissioners, Sanford City Council, and Broadway Town Council in December 2025.
