MEASURE L: "Local Choices, Local Impact"

Local Choices, Local Impact.

On July 1, 2025, the Santa Fe Springs City Council unanimously voted to move forward with a proposed tax measure, setting the stage for a critical discussion ahead of the November ballot. As our city continues to grow and evolve, this measure represents an opportunity to invest in vital community priorities—ranging from infrastructure improvements to enhanced city services. The council recognizes the importance of ensuring these decisions reflect the values and needs of everyone who calls Santa Fe Springs home. As part of our commitment to transparency and inclusive governance, the City invites all residents and stakeholders to participate in shaping the future of this measure. Your feedback will play a crucial role in informing the council's decision-making process, ensuring that the measure both strengthens our community and honors your priorities. Together, we can navigate this important conversation and build a sustainable foundation for the years ahead.

Why is it being proposed?

The measure would provide a local funding source that would stay in Santa Fe Springs. Revenues generated are intended to be used to support core city services and community priorities, including:

  • Emergency response and public safety, including Fire and Police Services.
  • Parks, recreation, and senior & youth services.
  • Local infrastructure improvements.

How would it work?

  1. The tax would apply to most goods and services purchased in Santa Fe Springs but would not include essentials like groceries and prescription medicine.
  2. The funds collected would go directly to the City and could not be taken by the State or County.
  3. The tax measure would include financial accountabiIity provisions.

In a recent community survey, over 90% of polled residents indicated support for increased investment in these areas. Additionally, more than 80% said they would support a local funding measure for these improvements.

What happens next?

Voters will have the opportunity to decide on this measure in the upcoming election on November 4, 2025. All registered voters in Santa Fe Springs will receive information on how and when to vote.
