The Town is renovating the Carriage House at Whitehall into a multipurpose event space for small, intimate gatherings. The external structure and footprint of the building will not change.

The building project is underway now and is expected to be substantially complete by the end of January 2025. Site work, including a small parking area and entrance from Elizabeth Rounds Park will follow.

Whitehall at Reservoir Park is a 157-acre tract purchased by the Town of Southern Pines in 2020. In addition to the Carriage House (the old garage), the property incudes a home, barn, and walking trails.

The Town is renovating the carriage house to use for additional recreation and library programming, private rental space, and to serve as a visitor entry to the overall park.

The Town is leading and funding this project with work being done by Laughlin Sutton Construction Company of Browns Summit, North Carolina.

The project will cost $431,912 and was included in the Fiscal Year 2025 budget.

The Convention and Visitor’s Bureau provided a one-time grant of $185,000 for the project.
