Rideshare Pilot Program
This Rideshare Pilot Program is a proposed on-demand transportation pilot designed to provide residents with a safe, reliable, accessible, and affordable way to reach everyday destinations. The pilot is intended to improve access to employment, healthcare, grocery stores, restaurants, local businesses, parks, community events, and other important destinations.
Overview
As a newly incorporated city, St. George has an opportunity to develop a rideshare program that reflects the needs of its residents while making responsible use of public resources. This pilot program will allow the City to test a flexible, on-demand model and evaluate actual community demand.
The anticipated 12-month pilot will capture data to inform the City where residents need transportation, how they use the service, and which transportation investments may provide the greatest long-term benefit.
The pilot is currently projected to serve approximately 1,500 to 2,000 riders, depending on enrollment and available funding.
Additional enrollment information will be provided as the program continues.
Eligible trips must generally begin and end within the City of St. George. Exceptions are anticipated for trips to and from approved locations associated with:
- Woman’s Hospital
- Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center
- Baton Rouge General Medical Center
- Ochsner Health Center - O'Neal
Program discounts will be subject to availability, program funding, and the final terms and conditions.
