Minimizing Single Use Plastics Pollution

Minimizing Single Use Plastic Pollution

The production, use, and disposal of single-use plastic carry-out bags is extremely detrimental to the environment in multiple ways including in the generation of greenhouse gas emissions, solid waste, litter, harm to wildlife, and increased water consumption. Over the past few years, several municipalities in the Centre Region have been working together to explore mechanisms to reduce single use plastic consumption throughout the region. The Single Use Plastics Working Group consists of representatives from State College Borough, Ferguson Township, College Township, and Patton Township.

The working group is currently seeking feedback from relevant stakeholders on a potential program for the community.
