Next Generation Safety & Mobility Plan
Project Description
Sustainable State College is leading the development of a comprehensive mobility plan that will set the framework for active transportation infrastructure and policy improvements within the Borough of State College. Next Generation Safety & Mobility Plan will guide the Borough and relevant stakeholder through the process of developing a safe, reliable, efficient, integrated, and connected multimodal transportation system that best enables access, mobility, sustainability, economic development, and health and well-being for people of all ages and abilities throughout the Borough.
Safety and Mobility Plan Objectives
- Developing a safe, reliable, efficienct, integrated, and connected multimodal transportation system.
- Understanding existing transportation network challenges and opportunities.
- Integrating existing community plans, ordinances, and policies that are relevant to the plan topic areas.
- Identifying and implementing capital improvement projects to support future development.

Public Engagement Opportunities
Developing this Plan will involve engaging with local stakeholders, elected officials, and all residents, workers, students, and travelers in the Borough. The Borough will be hosting five in-person engagement sessions for State College Borough residents this month to gather feedback about the proposed transportation infrastructure improvements and solutions being developed for the Borough. View the upcoming Open Engagament Sessions Flyer.
Neighborhood Association Meetings: The NextGen project management team will hold a series of meetings with the State College Borough Neighborhood Associations to gather feedback on initial ideas for the NextGen plan.
