A3100 Meadrow, Godalming – No Waiting At Any Time Proposals

Statutory Notice: Traffic Regulation Order (TRO)

This is the formal legal stage of the process and involves publishing a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) Notice, during which objections or representations may be made.

Proposal

It is proposed to revoke part of the existing limited waiting on-street parking on both sides of the carriageway on the A3100 Meadrow, Waverley from the point outside property No.101a Meadrow to a point 82m north/east and replace it with a prohibition of waiting by vehicles applying at any time day or night throughout the week.

A new toucan crossing is being installed on A3100 Meadrow, approximately 33m south from Wyatt’s Close and the footways are being widened between the toucan crossing and Catteshall Road to provide segregated facilities for pedestrians and cyclists. In order to provide adequate visibility and ensure the safe operation of the proposed crossing and adjacent new segregated facilities for pedestrians and cyclists, it is considered necessary to revoke 82m of the existing limited waiting on-street parking, on both sides of the carriageway, to replace with a new prohibition on waiting by vehicles at any time day or night throughout the week. Waiting restrictions (double yellow lines) are required to restrict parking on the carriageway as well as on the adjacent pedestrian and cyclist facilities to ensure motor traffic, pedestrians and cyclists can move without being obstructed by parked vehicles.

The works form part of the Phase 1 delivery of the Guildford to Godalming Greenway, a scheme to deliver safer and more attractive walking, wheeling and cycling (active travel) infrastructure between Guildford, Godalming and the communities/areas in between. The scheme aims to encourage more active travel, unlocking the associated health and environmental benefits. Phase 1 of the scheme has received funding from Active Travel England for construction following an application process and review of the scheme.
