Thorpe Lea Primary School and surrounding roads (Area 7)

Find out about the proposals outside Thorpe Lea Primary School & on surrounding roads

Egham Hythe Local Street Improvements

Thorpe Lea Primary School and surrounding roads

Roads within this area include: Huntingfield Way, Ayebridges Avenue, Park Avenue, South Avenue, Oak Avenue, Devils Lane, Lacey Close, Stephen Close, Langton Way, Barons Way, Knights Close, Malet Close, Crossways, Barons Way, Bishops Way and Hythe Field Avenue.

Design proposals in this area include (please see the PDF file linked below for a plan of all the proposals):

  • Improvements at junctions including providing dropped kerbs and tactile paving where currently absent. This makes it safer and easier for users to cross the road, especially those with reduced mobility, visual impairments, or with a pushchair. Narrowing crossing distances by building out footways are also proposed at some junctions as well as installing double yellow lines to restrict parking on junctions.
  • Outside Thorpe Lea Primary School, it is planned to build out the footways and grass verges at the Huntingfield Way and Langton Way junction. This will reduce crossing distances for pedestrians and is expected to slow vehicles travelling through this location. A specific design drawing is provided below for the proposals at this junction.
  • Tree planting and/or installation of rain gardens are proposed on Stephen Close, the junction of Barons Way and Bishops Way, the junction of Crossways and Barons Way, and the junction of Langton Way and Stephen Close. These features are proposed in suitable locations to reduce the risk of surface water flooding, build climate resilience, increase biodiversity and provide attractive features. For more information about these types of features please see the trees, planting and sustainable drainage tile.

Please provide your feedback on the proposals via our survey.
