You Said, We Did

Thank you to everyone who took the time to provide comments on the draft proposals for Chertsey Riverside LSI when we previously engaged with the community in Winter 2024.

We have carefully considered the feedback received and have made several updates to the proposals based on these comments.

The information below provides a summary of some of the key changes made in response to feedback received.

  • Based on feedback suggesting traffic calming and to improve safety, we have proposed speed cushions, alongside 20mph signage on selected existing lamp columns and 20mph road markings. This will improve safety, and supporting signage and markings will encourage drivers to slow down.
  • Based on feedback suggesting further planters on Roakes Avenue, planters have been added where appropriate.
  • Based on feedback regarding double yellow lines on Harrow Close, Wheatash Road, and on junctions, these have been amended and/or extended to address concerns.
  • Based on concerns regarding Chertsey High School pick up / drop off periods, double and single yellow lines have been proposed at selected locations to help address this.
  • Based on feedback requesting dropped kerbs on both sides of the junction between Roakes Avenue/Canford Drive, this has been proposed.
  • Based on feedback requesting a litter bin on Chertsey Road close to the underpass, a new bin has been proposed.

Concerns and suggestions were made regarding carriageway resurfacing, enforcement of speed limits and parking restrictions, vegetation maintenance and drainage. These issues are largely beyond the scope of the LSI scheme, however they will be shared with the relevant Surrey County Council teams. Some resurfacing and vegetation maintenance has been proposed as part of the LSI scheme, where improvements are proposed.
