Chilworth Infant & Tillingbourne Junior School - Proposed Road Safety Improvement Scheme
Surrey County Council is proposing a road safety and speed management scheme to improve safety and accessibility for pupils of Tillingbourne School, Chilworth Infant School and the wider community of Chilworth Village.
The scheme includes the following measures:
- 20mph Zone with traffic calming
- Signalised pedestrian crossing outside Tillingbourne Junior School
- Removal of the lay-by with a raised uncontrolled crossing outside Chilworth Infant School
Please share your views on our proposal by 13th November 2026.
We will be holding a face to face drop in event in the Village Hall on:
Wednesday 28th October 2026
Session 1 - 12-2pm
Session 2 - 3.30-6pm
These events are designed for you to come along and ask us any questions that you may have ahead of completing the online engagement survey.
Your feedback is important to us. Public engagement gives residents and highways users the opportunity to comment on our proposals. This feedback supports the decision making process and, in some cases, may lead to changes in the design. If the scheme progresses, a statutory consultation period will follow.
About the project
The following video explains how 20mph speed limits can make Surrey's roads safer and healthier for all road users.
Our public engagement is designed specifically to gain insight and feedback from residents and highway users on our proposals. All comments received during this initial stage are reviewed, considered and shared with County Councillors, helping shape the design and influencing the decision on whether the scheme should proceed.
Objections and comments are not replied to at this stage. If the scheme progresses, a statutory consultation will follow, where you are invited to object or make other representations. These objections and representations will inform the final decision, and anybody who objects will receive a response.
Please note that you can leave comments via this webpage or write to us (see address below). However we cannot accept comments on this proposal via email or phone.
