Surrey’s ZEV Strategy
Surrey’s ZEV Strategy
As part of Surrey County Council's draft Local Transport Plan for 2022-2032, we want to ensure that all transport in Surrey moves to zero emission vehicles (ZEVs) as quickly and efficiently as possible. Therefore, the council is developing a ZEV strategy to enable people to access sustainable vehicles. This strategy is currently focused on electric vehicles (EVs), but this will be continuously reviewed in light of the best available technology.
An important part of enabling access to EVs is ensuring that everyone who drives has access to convenient charging close to home. This is already possible if you have a driveway: the government will cover 75% of the cost of one home chargepoint under the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme. For more information this home charging grant, visit https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/customer-guidance-electric-vehicle-homecharge-scheme/electric-vehicle-homecharge-scheme-guidance-for-customers .
For people who do not have private off-street parking, it would be convenient to have public chargepoints close to home to help everyone use an EV. These could be in the form of on-street parking bays, and in some public car parks.
Your feedback is vital to help us plan the network: the data from this Interactive Map will be used to help us prioritise locations, and as evidence to build local support when consulting on proposed chargepoint locations. Click on the View map and comment button below to drop a pin where you would like an EV chargepoint to be installed.
Please note that we can only provide chargepoints on public roads or in public car parks. If you would like a chargepoint in a private car park, you will need to approach the landowner.
