School Street Decision and Next Steps

From 28th February 2025 to 6th May 2025, Surrey County Council carried out a series of public engagement exercises via this "Commonplace"  online web portal for three proposals for a School Street on Danetree Road and surrounding roads.

Summary of Results

The outcome of the online engagement exercise supports progressing the scheme:

• 59% were in Support  of the proposed School Street 
• 35% were Against 
• 5% were Neutral

The overall majority supports Option 3 of the proposed School Street Zone:

• Danetree Road
• Danetree Close 
• Oakhurst Road 
• Portion of Chessington Road (at the southern end of Danetree Road up to the access road to the main B2200 Chessington Road)

School Street Operational Timings:

In response to the feedback, it is proposed that the timings of the School Street will be:

• 8:00 to 9:00 am 
• 2:30 to 3:45pm 

Decision

The results and recommendations from this engagement have been shared with your local County Councillor, and a decision has been made to progress the scheme and implement the School Street. 

When will the School Street Start?

We are aiming for the School Street to go 'Live' from MONDAY 9th MARCH 2026

Letters and emails will be sent confirming this start date in January 2026 (we recommend signing up to receiving updates via email using this Commonplace platform)

Exemptions

Details on who are eligible to apply for a  School Street Exemption can be found here School Street schemes in Surrey - Surrey County Council

Once the online system is ready to receive applications, letters and emails will be sent with instructions on how to apply. 

Several Pop-In Events at the school will be held in February 2026, for those entitled to Exemptions to provide technical support in making their applications.
