Find out about the proposals for Keswick Road, Wavendene Avenue and surrounding roads

Egham Hythe Local Street Improvements

Keswick Road, Wavendene Avenue and surrounding roads

Roads in this area include: Keswick Road, Derwent Road, Windermere Close, Ambleside Way, Coniston Way, Helvellyn Close, Rydal Way, Thirlmere Close, Wavendene Avenue, Ashleigh Avenue, Clandon Avenue, The Lea Boscombe Close, Warwick Avenue, Longside Close, as well as the Footpath that connects Wavendene Avenue with Ayebridges Avenue.

Design proposals in this area include (please see the PDF file linked below for a plan of all the proposals):

  • Improvements at junctions including providing dropped kerbs and tactile paving where currently absent. This makes it safer and easier for users to cross the road, especially those with reduced mobility, visual impairments, or with a pushchair.
  • At some of the junctions it is also proposed to tighten the bell mouth of the junction by building out the footways and grass verges. This will reduce the crossing distance for pedestrians and also slow down vehicles travelling through the junction. The installation of double yellow lines is proposed at some of the junctions to restrict parking on the junctions.
  • Improvements to the public footpath that runs between Wavendene Avenue and Ayebridges Avenue are proposed including improvements to the surface, lighting and changing the barriers to improve accessibility for users.
  • Planting/installation of rain gardens are proposed on Wavendene Avenue, Warwick Avenue, the junction of Warwick Avenue and Ashleigh Avenue, and junction of Warwick Avenue and Clandon Avenue. These features are proposed in suitable locations to reduce the risk of surface water flooding, build climate resilience, increase biodiversity and provide attractive features. For more information about these types of features, please see the trees, planting and sustainable drainage tile.

Please provide your feedback on the proposals via our survey.
