Shelvers Way Public Realm Enhancement Project

Following consultation with residents in 2024, updated plans for the Shelvers Way improvement scheme have been developed to reflect community feedback. The scheme will be delivered in two phases, phase one will focus on drainage improvements to help reduce local flood risk on Epsom Lane South, followed by phase two which will deliver highway, drainage and public space enhancements along Shelvers Way.

Key changes include additional drainage measures such as rain gardens and soakaways and retention of the existing roundabout at Shelvers Hill/Ashurst Road. Improvements to pedestrian safety, planting and biodiversity have also been retained and refined.

The proposals include new sustainable drainage features, enhanced landscaping, wildlife-friendly planting, and a nature-themed art trail showcasing artwork created by pupils from Tadworth Primary School. Plans are also being explored to enhance public spaces on Shelvers Green, including natural play features, habitat improvements and new planting and we would like your feedback. To see the plans and comment, please visit the webpage.

Some elements remain subject to detailed design and any necessary statutory approvals. Residents with comments or questions can contact the project team at shelversway@surreycc.gov.uk.
