Wapshott Road and surrounding roads

Roads within this area include: Wapshott Road, St Paul’s Road, Cornwall Way, Bowes Road, Monsell Gardens, Meadow Gardens, Farm Close, Goring Road, as well as the Footpath that connects Goring Road with Chertsey Lane.

A separate scheme is being taken forwards in this area: “St Paul’s Road, Wapshott Road, Bowes Road & Cornwall Way Proposed Traffic Management Measures”. This was consulted on previously and the decision has been made to implement traffic calming measures. Proposals from the Egham Hythe Local Street Improvements would add to the traffic calming scheme but not affect or change what has already been consulted on.

Design proposals in this area include (please see the PDF file linked below for a plan of all the proposals):

• Tree planting on verges along Wapshott Road. Please also see the trees, planting and sustainable drainage tile for more information about tree planting proposals in Egham Hythe. 
• Improvements to the public footpath that connects Goring Road with Chertsey Lane are proposed including improvements to the surface, lighting, cutting back vegetation and changing the barriers to improve accessibility for users. CCTV provision is also being reviewed and proposals would be coordinated with any other schemes that may come forward. 
• Tactile paving and dropped kerbs are proposed at several junctions/crossings points where these are currently absent. These would make it safer and easier for users to cross the road, especially those with reduced mobility, visual impairments, or with a pushchair.
